Privacy notice

Welcome to Silverton, City of Speed · Version 1.1 · In effect from 27 October 2026

For children: Silverton is made for children aged 4 to 7, with a grown-up nearby. You don't need to tell us your name. What you do in Silverton stays on this tablet, phone or computer. We can't see it. Only grown-ups using this device can.

Who it is for

Welcome to Silverton is a free story app for children aged 4 to 7. It is built to be used with a parent, carer or teacher nearby. The voice recording, the grown-ups' pages and the link to buy the book sit behind a grown-ups check (a times-table question).

Who we are

Pocket Money Adventures CIC is the data controller. Company No. 16994988. ICO registration No. ZC124930.

General contact: hello@pocketmoneyadventures.co.uk. Data protection (requests about your rights): dpo@pocketmoneyadventures.co.uk. Safeguarding: support@pocketmoneyadventures.co.uk.

What we collect

We do not collect any personal information about your child or about you through this app. There are no accounts, sign-ins, names, email addresses, adverts, in-app purchases, analytics, tracking or cookies. Nothing your child types, taps, chooses or records is sent to us.

What stays on your device

To make the app work, some things are saved in your web browser on this device only (browser storage). We cannot see them. They are:

WhatWhy
Reading progress: the bookmark, the number of reads, and choices made at the story's questions (for example "need" or "want")So the book opens where you stopped, and Walbot can say "Last time, you said…"
Passport stamps, places visited, the golden feather, days in Silverton and game progress (for example, how fast Zion runs in the sprint)So the map remembers what your child has found
Feelings check-ins ("How are you feeling today?") and answers to the feelings questions in the storySo you can see them in Grown-ups Corner. Answering is optional ("Not today"). Daily check-ins are kept for 7 days, then deleted automatically. Anyone who uses this device and passes the grown-ups check can see them.
Wish list and savings plan, if your child makes oneSo the plan is still there next time
Settings: sound, Walbot's voice, bedtime light, accessibility choices, audiobook positionSo the app looks and sounds the way you chose
A short list of the last few app errors (the error message and the time), and the dates the app was usedTo help the app recover from problems and to show "days in Silverton". Never sent to us.
Voice recordings, only if a grown-up chooses to recordSo you can play the book back in your own voice. Kept in this browser only and never uploaded.

You can clear all of this at any time in Grown-ups Corner ("Clear progress on this device" clears everything except your settings, and "Delete voice recordings"), or by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. On a shared or school device, turn on "Shared device mode" in Grown-ups Corner: it switches off the feelings check-in and voice recording, and starts progress fresh in each new browser session. If you use the app on another device, nothing carries over.

The microphone

The app only asks to use the microphone after a grown-up passes the grown-ups check and presses "Record". Your browser shows its own permission prompt. Recordings stay on this device and are never uploaded. You can turn microphone access off in your browser settings at any time.

Our website host

The app is hosted by Netlify, Inc., which is based in the United States. To send the pages to your device, Netlify's servers receive technical information such as your device's IP address and browser type. Netlify keeps this in server logs to run and secure the service. Netlify's data processing terms say these logs are kept online for 90 days and offline for up to a year. Netlify publishes data processing terms for its customers, and we are confirming how they apply to our account. Those terms say transfers from the UK rely on the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with the UK International Data Transfer Addendum as a fallback. We use Netlify on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a working, secure website. We do not use these logs to identify anyone. All of the app's pictures, sounds and fonts come from the same host. The app does not load anything from any other company.

Links to other websites

Grown-ups Corner contains one link, to the page where you can buy the book. It opens our books website in a new tab, and that site has its own privacy information.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data from the app, there is normally nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. You still have the right to ask. Email dpo@pocketmoneyadventures.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled a concern, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
